Who is involved with Adoption: Legalized Lies? Flemington, New Jersey resident Jessica DelBalzo is the acting president of Adoption: Legalized Lies, and Kay Russell, of Spokane, Washington, is the secretary. Our membership is made up of an ever-growing group of men and women from all over the world. Mothers, fathers, adopted adults, grandparents, extended family members, adopters, and other concerned individuals are active in our organization, and anyone who is against adoption is welcome to join. We have members in a wide range of ages, religions, and backgrounds, but we have united because we all share the belief that no family should ever have to endure the trauma of adoption. What is A.L.L.’s position on abortion? Our members come from so many different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds that it would be impossible for us to take a position in the abortion debate. However, from a statistical standpoint, dropping adoption rates tend to parallel dropping abortion rates. Therefore, it is pointless for abortion foes to advocate adoption. Most importantly, we believe that there is no such thing as a “crisis pregnancy.” A baby-to-be should not be treated like a terminal illness, even if his or her conception was unplanned. The expectant parents should be given the support that they need, and the child should be welcomed into the world in the same way as any other baby. Does A.L.L. have a position on open records? We all support the movement to
open adoption records in America, and many of our members are active in
organizations that are working to pass state legislation that will give
adult adoptees access to their true birth certificates. We also believe
that any and all records from past adoptions, maternity facilities, and
adoption agencies should be opened to both natural parents and adopted
people. |
