Contesting an Adoption
Deciding to contest an adoption once you have signed away
your parental rights can be very difficult. Whether or not you
will be successful depends on many factors, including the type of legal
representation you have, the state in which the adoption took place,
and (for fathers) your involvement during the mother's pregnancy.
In the past, we have had some success finding attorneys to represent natural parents in contested adoption situations. We would be happy to help you as well! Most importantly, please know that you are not alone and that we will support you during this difficult time. |
Counseling for Expectant Parents
Talk to our experienced volunteers to
learn about common psychological and emotional consequences of adoption
for surrendering mothers and fathers and for adopted children and
adults. The loss of a child to adoption is profound and damaging, and
being adopted is linked to numerous problems for children and adults.
Our volunteers have experienced adoption loss in their own lives,
and they will help you to understand what adoption can do to you and
your baby.Counseling is available by phone or email, and we typically try to match parents-to-be with local volunteers so that more personal communication can develop if desired. If you would like to speak with one of our volunteers, please email or call today, (908) 751-4836. Maternity, Baby, & Child-Care Supplies
Adoption:
Legalized Lies firmly believes that money should never be a factor in
deciding to raise your baby. We are happy to help you with
donations of baby supplies, maternity clothes, diapers, and other
necessities. It should also comfort you to know that babies are
not nearly as expensive as some people make them out to be --
breastfeeding, cloth diapering, and co-sleeping are all excellent ways
to save money.
We can also help you find local and federal resources that can help you during and after your pregnancy. Again, money is not a good reason to separate your family. |
